We have taken it on vacation and used it around the house. The zoom feature is great for pictures that are far away. I also love the fact that you can take 60 secs of video footage at a time with sound. I also love that you can look back at the picture instantly and zoom in or out. Features I am not fond of are the capacity of the memory cards to not hold a lot of pictures. 30-40 sometimes more or less with a 32MB card. Also the memory cards are newer, so they don't fit the slot in our computer or printer without an adapter card. The picture quality is good and the flash is great with nighttime(dark) pictures. I wish there was a way to get the light to work while taking video. Overall I am happy with my camera and it goes, where I go.
Strengths
sturdy
Weaknesses
weight, batt life

Samsung DIGIMAX 202 Review

"Every Samsung Digimax model is designed to be the price/performance leader within its class," said Ken Gerb, Senior Vice President of Sales for Samsung Camera. The 3.34 Mega Pixel CCD allows for high quality pictures at resolutions up to 2032 X 1536.
Pro-Still Technology offers several modes that improve picture even further when photographing stationary subjects.
The 6 Mega Pro-Still mode uses advanced pixel shifting to create an even higher resolution image equivalent to over 6 mega pixels. NR Pro-Still can be used to dramatically reduce picture noise by up to 9db.
DR Pro-Still allows digital stills that approach the same wide latitude of conventional film by creating separate exposures for highlight & shadow areas. Then these separate exposures are combined. This, in effect, triples the cameras dynamic range.
The GC-QX3U offers maximum creativity & convenience with collage modes, video e-mail capability, auto flash and a 200,000 pixel 2" TFT View Screen..
This JVC digital still camera is easy to connect via USB terminal, and both Windows & Apple drivers are provided. A special high speed connection is also offered for the matching JVC GV-SP2 printer.

Specifications

Links
Model Name: JVC GC-QX3U
Check Prices:
Review URL:
Test Shots URL:
Photo Gallery URL:
Device Forum URL:
Manufacturer URL: Mfr. Just read and follow the directions and don't get it wet.

Sony Mavica FD 200 Review

The new Mavica MVC-FD100 and MVC-FD200 from Sony are like two peas in a pod. They would look completely identical were it not for their accent colour: the 1.2 megapixel FD100 is blue, and the 2.0 megapixel FD200 is grey. Although their resolution is different, in all other aspects these 2 cameras are one and the same, hence this combined review.

Specifications
Just under a year since the F717 and Sony's flagship prosumer digital camera has certainly undergone a large number of changes, not least of which is the switch from the electronically zoomed five times lens of the F707/F717 to an all new mechanical zoom seven times lens with Carl Zeiss T* coating and a wide angle 28 mm equiv. capability. Sony has also chosen to go with their latest sensor, the all new eight megapixel four-color (RGBE) 2/3" type (8.8 x 6.6 mm) CCD. Ignoring all other changes this makes a formidable combination, a high quality mechanically linked zoom lens combined with the resolution of an eight megapixel CCD. This camera is arguably the most important prosumer digital camera this year.

Specifications

More information : Announced 15-Aug-03
Max resolution : 3264 x 2448
Low resolution : 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536, 1280 x 960, 640 x 480
Image ratio w:h : 4:3, 3:2
Effective pixels : 8.0 million
Sensor photo detectors : 8.3 million
Sensor size : 2/3 " (8.80 x 6.60 mm)
Sensor type : CCD
Colour filter array : RGBE
Sensor manufacturer : Sony
ISO rating : Auto, 64, 100, 200, 400, 800
Zoom wide (W) : 28 mm
Zoom tele (T) : 200 mm (7.1 x)
Digital zoom : Yes, 2 x
Image stabilization : No
Auto Focus : Yes
Manual Focus : Yes, focus ring, inc. magnification
Auto focus type : Multi-Point AF (5 area), Center AF, Spot AF (flexible)
Normal focus range : 50 cm
Macro focus range : 2 cm
White balance override : 5 positions plus manual
Aperture range : F2.0 – F2.8 / F8.0
Min shutter : 30 sec
Max shutter : 1/3200 sec
Built-in Flash : Yes, pop-up
Flash guide no.
External flash : Yes, hot-shoe / ACC
Flash modes : Auto, On, Off, Red-Eye reduction, Ext
Exposure compensation : -2 EV to +2 EV in 1/3 EV Steps
Metering : Multi-Segment, Center weighted, Spot
Aperture priority : Yes
Shutter priority : Yes
Focal length multiplier
Lens thread : 58 mm
Continuous Drive : Yes
Movie Clips : Yes, MPEG VX (VGA, 16/30 fps, unlimited)
Remote control : Optional wired
Tripod mount : Yes
Self-timer : 10 sec
Timelapse recording : No
Orientation sensor : No
Storage types : Memory Stick / Pro, Compact Flash (Type I or II)
Storage included : None
Uncompressed format : RAW, TIFF
Compressed format : JPEG (EXIF 2.2)
Quality Levels : Standard, Fine
Viewfinder : EVF
LCD : 1.8 "
LCD Pixels : 134,000
Video out : Yes
USB : Yes, 2.0
Firewire (IEEE 1394) : No
Battery / Charger : Yes
Battery : InfoLithium (NP-FM50) & charger
Weight (inc. batteries) : 906 g (32 oz)
Dimensions : 134 x 91 x 156 mm (5.3 x 3.6 x 6.1 in)
Notes : Carl Zeiss T* lens, mechanically linked zoom ring

Review

Large for its class; no Adobe RGB color-space support; very slow RAW capture; frequent chromatic aberration; no override for automatic power-off; JPEG-only continuous shooting; no custom settings. The CD500 has all of the features of Sony’s high-end cameras, including Hologram AF, MPEGMovie VX, full manual controls, and a Carl Zeiss lens.

Specifications

More information: Announced 24-Feb-03
Max resolution : 2592 x 1944
Low resolution : 2048 x 1536, 1280 x 960, 640 x 480
Image ratio w:h : 4:3, 3:2
Effective pixels : 5.0 million
Sensor photo detectors : 5.2 million
Sensor size : 1/1.8 ” (7.18 x 5.32 mm)
Sensor type : CCD
Colour filter array : RGB
Sensor manufacturer : Sony
ISO rating : Auto, 100, 200, 400
Zoom wide (W): 34 mm
Zoom tele (T) : 102 mm (3 x)
Digital zoom : Yes, 4 x (VGA)
Image stabilization : No
Auto Focus : Yes
Manual Focus : Yes, 13 steps
Auto focus type : Multi-point 5 area (selectable)
Normal focus range : 50 cm
Macro focus range : 4 cm
White balance override : 5 positions plus manual
Aperture range : F2.0 – F2.5 / F8.0
Min shutter : 8 sec
Max shutter : 1/1000 sec
Built-in Flash: Yes, pop-up
Flash guide no. : 5.0 m (16.4 ft) 0 m
External flash : Yes, hot-shoe
Flash modes : Auto, On, Off, Slow, Ext
Exposure compensation : -2 EV to +2 EV in 1/3 EV Steps
Metering : Multi-Segment, Center weighted, Spot
Aperture priority : Yes
Shutter priority : Yes
Focal length multiplier
Lens thread : 52 mm (with adapter)
Continuous Drive : Yes, 3 images
Movie Clips : Yes, MPEG VX (VGA, 16 fps, unlimited)
Remote control : Optional wired
Tripod mount : Yes
Self-timer : 10 sec
Timelapse recording : No
Orientation sensor: No
Storage types : CD-R, CD-RW (8 cm)
Storage included : 1 x 8 cm CD-R, 1 x CD-RW
Uncompressed format : TIFF
Compressed format : JPEG (EXIF 2.2)
Quality Levels : Fine, Standard
Viewfinder : No
LCD : 2.5 ”
LCD Pixels : 123,000
Video out : Yes
USB : Yes, 2.0
Firewire (IEEE 1394) : No
Battery / Charger : Yes
Battery : InfoLithium (NP-FM50) & charger
Weight (inc. batteries) : 606 g (21.4 oz)
Dimensions : 139 x 96 x 103 mm (5.5 x 3.8 x 4.1 in

Review

Sony’s MVC-CD500 Digital Still Camera features massive 5.0 megapixel resolution (effective) with a Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 3X optical/2X digital zoom lens and the ability to write…
more…to inexpensive optical media.
