Summary
I bought this camera about six months ago. We have taken it on vacation and used it around the house. The zoom feature is great for pictures that are far away. I also love the fact that you can take 60 secs of video footage at a time with sound. I also love that you can look back at the picture instantly and zoom in or out. Features I am not fond of are the capacity of the memory cards to not hold a lot of pictures. 30-40 sometimes more or less with a 32MB card. Also the memory cards are newer, so they don't fit the slot in our computer or printer without an adapter card. The picture quality is good and the flash is great with nighttime(dark) pictures. I wish there was a way to get the light to work while taking video. Overall I am happy with my camera and it goes, where I go.

JVC GC-QX3U Review

The GC-QX3U is the newest, state-of-the-art, digital still camera from JVC. The 3.34 Mega Pixel CCD allows for high quality pictures at resolutions up to 2032 X 1536.
Pro-Still Technology offers several modes that improve picture even further when photographing stationary subjects.
The 6 Mega Pro-Still mode uses advanced pixel shifting to create an even higher resolution image equivalent to over 6 mega pixels. NR Pro-Still can be used to dramatically reduce picture noise by up to 9db.
DR Pro-Still allows digital stills that approach the same wide latitude of conventional film by creating separate exposures for highlight & shadow areas. Then these separate exposures are combined. This, in effect, triples the cameras dynamic range.
The GC-QX3U offers maximum creativity & convenience with collage modes, video e-mail capability, auto flash and a 200,000 pixel 2" TFT View Screen..
This JVC digital still camera is easy to connect via USB terminal, and both Windows & Apple drivers are provided. A special high speed connection is also offered for the matching JVC GV-SP2 printer.

Review

Pros: It's small and has many functions, and the discs hold a lot of pictures.
Cons: It is expensive because it is a relative novelty, and do not get it wet.
The Bottom Line: Most people would find this to be a camera to suit all your needs. Just read and follow the directions and don't get it wet.

Sony Mavica FD 200 Review

The new Mavica MVC-FD100 and MVC-FD200 from Sony are like two peas in a pod. They would look completely identical were it not for their accent colour: the 1.2 megapixel FD100 is blue, and the 2.0 megapixel FD200 is grey. Although their resolution is different, in all other aspects these 2 cameras are one and the same, hence this combined review.

Sony DSC-F828 Review

The Cybershot DSC-F828 was announced on 15th August, this new camera is very obviously a development of the DSC-F717 design. Just under a year since the F717 and Sony's flagship prosumer digital camera has certainly undergone a large number of changes, not least of which is the switch from the electronically zoomed five times lens of the F707/F717 to an all new mechanical zoom seven times lens with Carl Zeiss T* coating and a wide angle 28 mm equiv. capability. Sony has also chosen to go with their latest sensor, the all new eight megapixel four-color (RGBE) 2/3" type (8.8 x 6.6 mm) CCD. Ignoring all other changes this makes a formidable combination, a high quality mechanically linked zoom lens combined with the resolution of an eight megapixel CCD. This camera is arguably the most important prosumer digital camera this year.

Review

Large for its class; no Adobe RGB color-space support; very slow RAW capture; frequent chromatic aberration; no override for automatic power-off; JPEG-only continuous shooting; no custom settings. Despite a few unfortunate flaws, the DSC-F828 has a lot to offer enthusiasts who don't shoot a lot of RAW images.

Sony Mavica CD500 Review

For those who want the convenience of floppy storage, but with more capacity, Sony offers their CD Mavica line. Instead of a measly 1.4MB floppy, the CD Mavicas can store 156MB of photos and videos on a single 8 cm disc. There are two 2003 CD Mavicas: the smaller, 3.2 Megapixel MVC-CD350 ($499), and the top-of-the-line 5 Megapixel MVC-CD500 ($699) reviewed here. The CD500 has all of the features of Sony’s high-end cameras, including Hologram AF, MPEGMovie VX, full manual controls, and a Carl Zeiss lens.
